The Dutch Species Register offers access to a sizeable reference network centered around the taxonomic thesauris of Naturalis, to which a number of large databases have been linked. All sorts of organisations and invidual specialists are enaged in the further development of the register.
The Dutch Species Register is a tree sructure of more than 40.000 taxonomic concepts. Each concept (taxon) has, apart from the regular conceptcard data (scientific name, language variants, etcetera), an eleborate track record on naming history.
The complete tree plus all the extra data is set up as a RDF/SKOS structure.
